She has her BA in Philosophy from the University of the South and spent a semester in Bali studying Hinduism and healing. After working with her mentor, Rhonda Howard, a long time midwife, massage therapist, and healer, she became a LMT, focusing on Eastern energy work, Myotherapy, and myofascial release.
Massage is a way of getting in touch with the body’s own healing wisdom. The body supports us in amazing ways, maintaining homeostasis in ever changing environments and constantly adjusting to maintain balance and stability as we move through space.
Massage can help us to simply relax and heal by allowing the activation of the parasympathetic nervous system. Massage can also go deeper and help us to identify and release stress patterns in the fascia, the connective tissue that wraps each muscle. I incorporate myofascial release techniques to melt the fascia and create space for the muscles to move properly, and trigger point therapy to help break up adhesions.
